At the core of any Scottish Festival are "the Games... that which lends its name... Highland Games." Each year the meadow within the Stone Mountain Park hosts one of the largest fields of competition in those unique Highland Games events.
For two full days Highland Athletes take their chances, competiting for prizes, records and bragging rights in such feats as weight tosses, hammer throws and the famous cabar and sheaf toss events. While all of this is happening on one end of the field, Highland Dancers from around the US and Canada vie for prizes in head-to-head dancing contests at the other.
Saturday afternoon the Bagpipe Bands take their turn... right in the middle. The afternoon is filled with one of the largest fields of competitng bands in the SE United States.
If competition is what you crave, you will not be disappointed... unless of course it is because you can not be in more than one place at one time.
