While most of the festival attractions, features and pagentry take place on the festival grounds at Stone Mountain Park , there are several events which are held in the facilities at our Host Hotel that should not be missed.
36th Annual Highland Games at the meadows of Stone Mountain Park
Sat: $15/adult $4/child
Sun: $13/adult $4/child
Like the magical town of Brigadoon, the sights, sounds and color of a "Scottish Games" appear on the parks meadow grounds. Unlike the famous scottish village which appears for one day each 100 years, the Stone Mountain Festival appears for TWO FULL DAYS each October.
Each day presents a different set of features. Saturday features top Professional Athletics in competition, Highland Dancing contests, Solo Piping and Drumming competition and one of the largest Pipe Band contests in the Southeastern US. Sunday brings the Amateur Athletics to the forefront with more Highland Dance competition, Pipe Band performances, exhibitions of Sheep Dogs and the ancient art of Falconry, a Interdenominational Church Service and the great Parade of Tartan featuring over 100 clans in parade.
Whisky Tasting and Seminar: $15/adult
Friday afternoon activities begin with a Seminar and Tasting of some of Scotland's finest
whisky. Come expolre the color, nose and yes event the taste of Scotland's "Water of Life".
Invitational Piping Competition: $10/each
Friday evening, the pipers take the stage in a special Invitational piping competition. This unique indoor contest features the year's top Professional players from the Southeastern US vying
for major cash prizes. These players are joined by the region's top Amateur players as well. Making the contest a bit more significant the overall winners in each category will be given invitations to the USPF championships where they will represent our games and the southeast region in what has become know as the US solo championships.
Scottish Musical Evening: $11/each
At the mid-point of the weekend's events, the sounds of Scotland come inside for a causal evening of entertaining stories and great music featuring the incomparable Alex Beaton.
